Dear Friends,

Grace to you and peace from our Lord Jesus Church. Our first livestream service on Sunday was a great success. Thank you to Robert Bullington, Brenda Leonard, Corbin Cogswell, and Fr. Dan Hall for making this possible. I'm glad many of you were able to join us online. If you click the link on our Facebook page, you can watch the recording of the service. Next week, with Carol Obligado's help, we hope to add some music to the broadcast. We will livestream church every Sunday at 10:30 am until we resume public worship. Please join us for virtual Morning Prayer.

All in-person church activities continue to be cancelled until further notice and our church buildings continue to be closed to the public. This includes canceling the Rector's Ramble scheduled for March 28th. It is not acceptable for church groups to meet in private homes. All necessary meetings should be online or conference calls. I can help you set up a Zoom meeting from your computer, Zoom also allows participants to call in from a regular landline phone. It is important that we remain connected in a safe way. Please do call your friends and fellow parishioners to check in and see how they are doing in these difficult times.

It is also important that we remain spiritually connected with God and each other. Our Book of Common Prayer is a great resource for spiritual practices. Beginning on page 136 of the prayer book are Daily Devotions for Individuals and Families. You can use these with the Daily Office Lectionary, beginning on page 934, to have an individual prayer service with scripture readings (we are currently in Daily Office Year Two). I post a reflection on the daily Old Testament reading on Advent's Facebook page. The prayer book also has Prayers and Thanksgivings starting on page 814 and Collects for Various Occasions beginning on page 251. If you do not have a prayer book at home, contact me and you may borrow one from the church. Please pray for each other and the world daily.

Finally, please pay your pledge. Even though our buildings are closed, we still have to pay our bills. You may pay your pledge on line on our website link on this page or simply mail your pledge to: Episcopal Church of the Advent, P.O. Box 261, Cape May, New Jersey 08204. Thank you for all you do for our church. Please give me a call if I may do anything for you or if you just want to talk. My cell phone is (803) 361-7519. May God bless you and your family.
